I had the privilege of meeting Rich twice, once when I was in high school and went to a pelagic trip out of Arcata and once when his tour group happened to arrive at Malheur NWR moments after I had found a singing Worm-eating Warbler.  He recognized its chip note from halfway across the compound.  Fly on.
